SMOKING WEATHER

A rant by: Anonymous

Now that its getting colder out i have to deal with the stupid smokers that lurk around the doorways of winnipeg. In the summer its not so bad because they dont mind walking around, but Why do you guys have to huddle around the entrance ways in winter? that short blast of warm air isnt going to warm you up that much and all your doing is letting smoke flow into the buildings. Some buildings have signs that say no smoking within 15 meters, those signs are about as recognized as deer crossing signs, it seems noone listens to them. Do us all a favour and move out of the doorways. Give up the habbit or get out of my way!

Remember not to long ago when you wanted to go to the bar you had to walk through clouds of smoke? Or when you wanted to go for a coffee you were inhaling more skoke then the smokers?!?!? Ya, give them a inch they want a mile. You really need to shake your head and realize your getting a big break already. Smokers aren't animals. They are people with a habit they choose to continue regardless of how bad it is for them. Some do it because of addiction, others just enjoy the sinful pleasure. This is kinda like what you do in the basement when you think no one is home. Thanks for coming out.

BigB, i just started reading all the rants here and with the amount of times your telling people to shake their head, or give their head a shake, your gonna have everyone becoming dashboard bobble heads if they listen to you. oh by the way the "Masked Anonymous man has spoken!"

BigB, They're rights end where my nose begins. They want to smoke.... fine. Hwoever it has been proven harmful and some people are allergic to it. They should have to move. Oh yeah "The Law has Spoken"

i'm a smoker and i dont know if BigB you are or not, but you said it right, quit crying you babies, were going outside isnt that enough

They are huddled at the entrance to keep out of the Manitoba winds...I am not a smoker, and have no trouble holding my breath for the five seconds it takes to get by. Come now, You probably give Cocaine addicts and Drunks more mercy than these poor nicotine adicts.

I think by forcing smokers outside, we've done enough. I don't smoke cigarattes, and I do have to say that I appreciate not having to breathe cigaratte smoke in restaurants, etc; but really, Winnipeg gets stinkin cold in the winter, so let's cut the smokers a bit of a break. We're already making them stand outside, so let's stop whining that they stand in the doorways trying to keep warm. As was already said, just take a gulp of fresh air and then walk through the haze.

Well said on BigB! It\'s about time people start to realize how shallow and obnoxious his posts are!

Hey man, if you want to smoke becuase you are dependant, figity, or have an addictive personality, thats your deal. Its a choice you made, and its a choice you can live with. If I want to prolong my life by keeping you guys the hell away from the entrance of where I work, then be nice and move out. I have asthma and an allergy to cigarette smoke, gets me all choked up and irritated. I dont like paying for my $75 inhalers. Canada pays for your health care which is why they make it as difficult as possible for you to continue the habbit that will inevitably put you in the hospitol, where you can suck up more health care funding. Quit being sore losers and put out the butt.

It is good to see we have wheezy 14 yr old computer nerd’s onsite. As mentioned previously by other non-smokers holding your breath for 5 seconds while you walk past smokers wont kill you. You are obviously too young to remember this, but not to long ago in the middle of all shopping malls was a cloud of smoke. Every hospital had a smoking lounge and same with all government buildings for that matter. It wasn’t so long ago that allowing people to smoke was part of being a member of a “free country”. Or perhaps you are one of these morons that believe “second hand smoke is worse then first hand”. This here is the dumbest concept known to man. Do you fools not realize that no person inhales more second hand then the first hand smoker?!?!? I encourage smoking. It cleans out your lungs. And when eating sushi it smokes the raw fish inside you, lovely. BTW, quite complaining about how much your mom pays for your inhalers. If you weren't obese you probably wouldn't need them. And if your mom had a job rather then being a fulltime gambler on welfare she would have a job that's health plan covered them.

Wow BigB, Just when I though you couldn't get any more ignorant....
Anonymous says: 2005-11-01 19:17:49
Im shocked you dont need inhalers for your obesity BigB, since you did admit on another rant topic to being close to 300lbs. Anyhow, I take it you are a smoker and an ignorant one at that. I know you like to oppose everyones ideas for attention becuase you are probobly some obnoxious 20 something year old smart ass kid. Either way, it doesnt matter if the malls used to allow smoking, or if the bars used to allow it, doesnt make it right now. Get with whats happening today. People are sick BECUASE we let it go on for so long. I for one am glad it has been banned everywhere. But for you BigB, please, keep smoking in your ashtray of a house, becuase if it shortens your breath..well.. all the better for us then.
BigB says: 2005-11-02 17:29:28
Mom, is that you?!?! I'm the ignorant one? Who would have thought that an open-minded, non-smoking compassionate person would be considered ignorant. I think the ignorance is with the people that have never been addicted to smoking and can talk it down like its the most disgusting thing in the world. Do we complain when you do your cousin and call it "true love"? Thanks for coming out masked wonder. I suggest you create a new login so you can take your bigb-bashing to the darkside (backlane btich). Although i'm sure i can connect the dots w/ the other anon posts. We will call you for defining purposes 'lester the molester'.

BigB....need to let off some anger?!?!?!...Down Boy...down. Bite em' son don't kill him..LOL! You two both need to take a look at this issue more rationally. On one hand you have people who are addicted to smoking, most of them having been lied to as adolescents, told that it looked "Sexy" if you smoke. Yes, even MEN bought into it because they wanted to look "Macho" to their fellow testosterone raging peers. Then they find they smoke a half pack a day....another 6 months a full pack....a year later...a pack and a half...and upwards from there. You can't do the things you use to do because you can't catch your breath to do it. You don't realize that you are poisoning those around you....you need cigarettes to get through the day. You believe that it is just a way to unwind but in reality you are taking 3 minutes off of your life with one cigarette. Posted are two stories...I challenge you to read them....yes, it is going to take you about 3 MINUTES to read....but it will OPEN YOUR EYES!!! The other side is valid too..... I do not think that in Public places...NOT BARS...NOT PRIVATLEY OWNED BUSINESSES....you have NO right to impose your lack of good judgement and fear of public opinion to cause a CREDIBLE AND SERIOUS Risk to my health. These people are begging you not to smoke...even though they are smokers. My name is Gary Bain, I am 58 and a grandfather to a 12 year old boy, a 12 year old girl, an 11 year old girl, 2- 7 year old girls, a 6 year old girl, a 5 year old girl, a 4 year old boy, and a brand new 4 week old little boy. They all call me Paw Paw, except for the little guy and he just grins. I started smoking when I was about 11 or 12 years old. I kept right on smoking and smoking until it got where I was having a hard time breathing. I went to the doctor and he told me that I had to quit smoking because I had Emphysema. Emphysema is mostly caused by smoking after a long time and you don't know you have it until it is too late. I could still breathe pretty good but couldn't walk as far as I used to but kept on smoking anyway because I did not believe the doctor. I still didn't quit until my 58th birthday which was just last February 28th. I can breathe better , as a matter of fact, if you will follow the instructions I have typed out below, you can tell how I can breathe now. Sit down somewhere and relax a little and when you feel comfortable, take your right or left hand and with your thumb and forefinger, hold your nose shut. While holding your nose shut, cover your mouth tightly with the rest of your hand so you can just barely breathe through your fingers. Now, walk for about 40 steps and turn around and come back while still breathing through your hand. Now, do you see how hard it is to breathe? Especially when you try to walk around? That is what Emphysema is and that is what smoking can do to you. Not for awhile, but when you are older and it is too late to do anything about it. Please don't even think about smoking. If you have questions, you can email me at 1efforts@emphysema.net -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Bain Hi, My name is Mike Bain I am 33 years old, I have a wife, a daughter, 7 yrs old, and a son 4 yrs old. I have lost 2 relatives due to smoking. My uncle died of complications from having emphysema at the age of 57. My grandmother died of cancer at the age of 71, she was diagnosed with emphysema in her 30's or 40's, it progressed in to lung cancer, brain cancer and death. That was the worst part of my life, to see my grandma live the rest of her life like that. That's the last memory I have of my grandmother, her last days. My grandmother was never a big woman, but always a woman who had it together. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she asked the doctor if it would go to her brain. That was one thing she did not want, I'm guessing the doctor didn't give her a straight answer. How could he? After being diagnosed with cancer she died within 6 months. Before my grandmother passed away she had lost 30% of her original weight and most of her hair, she hardly remembered some family members, and would have episodes of delusions and outbursts. This could have been due to radiation and the prescribed drugs, whatever the reason, it was from the result of smoking. My dad is 58 years old, he was diagnosed with emphysema when he was 45. He doesn't smoke anymore, but his emphysema has still progressed. He has been on oxygen for about 6 weeks. Although we have never had the same interests, emphysema has interfered with too much of the common life my dad and I once had. My dad used to help me with so many things with my house, and every thing else. My dad is too young to be confined to oxygen so he can walk around the house or to another room. At my age, it is so hard to see him diminish like he has. My kids are aware of what's happening to their "Paw Paw", but they do not know how I feel. After all of this I STILL smoke, I have been for a little over 10 years I am trying to quit but it is very hard. I'm always thinking of my kids and how much I do not want them worrying about when I was going to die from smoking, crying at every mention about their dad's deteriorating health but why didn't my dad quit before it was too late? He was hooked!! If you do not smoke, do not start!!!! MBain3232@worldnet.att.net Mike's father Gaey was approved for a lung transplant in 2000. He died 2 days before the surgery. Have some compassion for smokers and smokers PLEASE have compassion for the people you smoke around. If someone tells you that they are allergic to smoke...don't be a prick. Try to understand each other.

Looks like shes found her niche. I suggest volunteering as a motivational speaker in your freetime. Doing so topless would probably be most effective:)
