Too many cops are cruising, and not crime fighting.  A rant by: Anonymous For one, if you think that the police fight crime in this city, you are wrong!! As a current Law Enforcer myself, what we do is investigate crime after it happends. There is no trying to deter it before it happends by fighting it. Now for Sunday night cruising. If someone breaks into your home or you need the police for some other urgent service, forget about it. The city of Winnipeg has pulled cars off their regular patrol duties to enforce HTA's, ( HWY Taffic Act bylaws ). So their response time to your call will be delayed by several hours. Now is that safe?? What do you want our police doing, pulling over kids because their cars tires are too big, or coming to the rescue when you need urgent help? Now as for myself, I have a truck that I consider my toy. Is it lowered? You better believe it! Is the exhaust modified? Again, yup! Does it have custom body work? Yes it does! Does it have custom rims and tires? Oh ya! Is it safetied? Sure is! Is it street legal? You bet your bottom dollar it is!! Have I been pulled over by the Winnipeg Police Services on Sunday nights? Yes I have. Last year for 5 straight Sunday's I was pulled over. Was I speeding? Nope Did I break any other HTA? Not at all. Now my truck looks cool and it may look like something might be illegal on it, but it's clean and safe! I spent alot of time on my ride making sure it was safe and legal! On my truck I have shaved door handles. On three of the five times I was pulled over I was given a ticket for an unsafe vehicle because there were no door handles. Now I know for a fact that this mod is legal becuase I researched it before I did it. The only stipulation is that you must have working interior handles, which I do. Each time my ticket was overturned when I went to fight it. Now for being pulled over for 5 straight sundays doesn't sound like enforcement, its more like harrassment. So for this year I will drive my truck on Sunday afternoons to the park, and then I head home. No more Sunday nights for me. As for this city, get a grip!! He said he was "law enforcement". To me that is code for "not a cop", maybe more like a rent-a-cop? I agree there is no justification in targeting law-abiding individuals, however as unfair as it may seem if you're in a tricked out vehicle cops are going to notice and depending on your demographics (gender, age, etc) you may or may not be a target. Did you say that you are a law enforcer(cop)? You are a lier! You get pulled over by your own people and get ticketed??? You are full of s***! Your comment is legit about the Sunday cruise night but don't go saying that you are a cop!!!!!!! Cops in this city do not get ticketed!!!! I know that for a fact asshole!!
