The City Where Having Fun Is a Crime ![]() A rant by: FreedomFries The police are in full force Sunday nights, keeping the streets safe. Last Sunday i couldn't go a block without seeing a cruiser car. This is very important. You want to make sure someone isn't driving with too much Tint in their windows. That could be an extreme hazard. You also want to make sure that you are driving with clean floor mats. I'm pretty sure that the police will start giving out tickets if you don't have clean floor mats. This is great, because i know that on a sunday night there's no chance that someone will get away with having a car that's too low. Or driving with too much tint. Our police will make sure to be there to ticket them. We want to focus on these things, because little things like murderers and child molestors aren't as dangerous as a car driving with dirty floor mats. Also, if you want to rob a bank, I'd suggest doing it on a sunday night. Make sure however, that you don't have fun when you're leaving the bank. Our police can detect when people are having fun, and they'll pull you over if the fun level is too high. << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) BigB says: 2005-08-17 13:37:49 Cruise night is the only cool thing that Winnipeg really has/had. You go to all different cities and they will have people out cruising everynight on a certain strip, but Winnipeg is the only place that has an official night of cruising. I think the cops should be pulling over all the losers in their moms tempos and caravans that get in the way of people with cars worth cruising. The biggest mistake they made was not allowing parking at polo-park anymore. Rather then cruising we were all parked walking around enjoying cars and fellowship. Rarely did i see booze and although there was some litering. Why not have a $2.00 admission fee rather then hiring 20 O.B.O. dinks to block off every entrance. My largest complaint though is the day i went to a movie on a sunday night at Polo Silvercity. Took a ladyfriend and was just enjoying the evening. I didnt find the sunday night gridlock frustrating bcs im proud of our cruise night. But what did piss me off was when i discovered the reason things were moving so slow was bcs of a check stop for the cops to pick a car apart like your crossing the border with cocaine. I dont think it mattered that I was driving my porsche bcs they were pulling over honda's, fords, etc. Two cops searched my car inside and out. Popped the hood to check the engine compartment, looked underneath to check exhaust. Even banged on the fenders (this really pissed me off) to see if they had hiding compartments?!!? How many fatalities has ground effects or a coffee can exhaust caused? THETRUTH says: 2005-09-29 02:23:48 yeah well some don't speed but alot do. so your right they should just put up more red light cams along portage, lots more. for those that don't drive like assholes they have nothing to worry about. Anonymous says: 2005-10-03 12:57:27 When I was younger, I used to speed everywhere. I'm not gonna sit here an badmouth the people that do it now. However, It's one thing to drive irresponsibly and another thing to drive irresponsibly in traffic. If people are going to drag race, do it in a "safer" place. Portage ave. at 9:30pm on sunday night does not meet the requirements of "safer." DesertEagle10 says: 2005-11-10 23:17:36 Alright maybe pulling people over for having too low suspension on their vehicle isn't the best use of the police serivce's time but there is method to their madness. Regardless of what infraction a particular vehicle has, chances are the owner knows about it and probably made that 'mod' intentionally just to be 'cool'. They also know it is a infraction of the Highway Traffic Act and can get them in trouble with the law. Now I ask you, what do the police do? Enforce the laws maybe? Regardless of how minor the infraction is, it is the police's responsibility to enforce it. And guess what, that family living just off of portage doesn't like street racing so they complain. So do their neighbours and theirs, etc. Now you got a ton of complaints about squeeling tires etc., who are the cops going to look at first? The elderly gentleman in the lincon towncar? Or the punk teenager in the heavily modified honda civic? You make the call. Lastly, window tint. You seem to be rather un-informed about why this is even an infraction to begin with. How would you like to be the cop with the wife and two kids at home who pulls over a speeding vehicle only to walk up to the drivers window (not rolled down) and be shot in the face. Can't happen? It has. Window tint is illegal because it protects those who protect us. With some of those modified cars out there, you could put your face right up to the glass only to see your own reflection. God only knows if theres a bullet with your name on it on the other side. Anonymous says: 2006-04-12 21:00:27 last summer the police were to busy on portage, meanwhile in riverbend a friend of mine had to protect himself and his sick wife from a burgler. Luckly one of the neighbors was outside smoking and came to investegate all the noise. the cops didnt show till next morning. now thats disgusting! BalthazaarRamrod says: 2006-04-12 22:41:12 After reading that last post by Anon, I agree that the crackdown is retarded. They could do the job with 6 cruisers. Just get them to pull people over intermittently and leave the cherries on. I actually got hit and run by a Drubnk a while back. I chased him and he crashed and ditched his car. Guy almost killed people. Cops showed up 3 hrs later... Regarding modifications: A lot of these pieces of chit are barely road worthy. The kid in the sunfire with cut springs, a fart can and NOS stickers is a danger to himself and others. I knew a guy with a slammed civic on stock shocks. He had a 4 inch drop without correcting the alignement. He was a bit of a tard though... carnut says: 2009-09-25 23:53:46 Sunday night police night. So bring car out on saturday night.
