NHL hockey in Winnipeg??? ![]() A rant by: lukeh This goes out to all you hockey fans. I am a jetsowner.com supporter and I would like to point out a fiew facts on how the NHL could return to Winnipeg. My first point is that ticket prices are in a different range in the new nhl than the old nhl. Teams everywhere are lowering ticket prices to gain new fans. This would transfer to Wpg because of the Salary cap that was implanted this summer. We also have a brand new state of the art arena that in the new nhl we do not need to have 20,000 seats to sustain a nhl team. There are many other ways to gain revinew then there were 10 years ago. Might I also point out that before the jets left town their arena conssesion profit was taken by the wec along with other revinew streams that were aviable then. The NHL is back baby, but not back where it needs to be and that is right here << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) Anonymous says: 2005-08-18 20:23:02 GO JETS GO!!! Moose season tickets are selling like hotcakes with the most expensive seats almost sold out. Who says there is no money in Winnipeg? Anonymous says: 2005-08-20 16:50:12 www.JetsOwner.com Anonymous says: 2005-10-19 01:29:55 I have a question? What can one team offer over another to keep a team together? If a team is the championship team one year, and all teams in the league are at thier salery limit(which is the same), why stay in that city and play on the same team? There has to be some loop hole here for owners and players so that the players can recieve extra cash to stay in one place? Am I wrong? I am refering to endorsements, what if one team can guarentee certain bucks for product endorsements are they allowed to do this? Can Winnipeg compeate this way? Are we richer than Alberta. I am not sure about this just something that crossed my mind. Fisher says: 2005-11-10 17:39:56 There is one big reason why we will probably see Winnipeg back in the NHL landscape. His name is Mr. Darren Ford, the operator of http://www.jetsowner.com. That guy is amazing in his belief that we will ( and deserve) to have hockey back here on the NHL level. He may not have the money, but he has the creativity and the passion to be a part of seeing it come to pass. I really respect this man in his efforts to stir up the belief of the people of this city. He is one Winnipeger who believes in Winnipeg and sees us as a big-time city that deserves good things like the return of our Jets. My hat is off to him! fisher2770@yahoo.com BlackThorne says: 2006-09-19 19:31:53 Amen to that Fisher... Winnipeg needs more people like him. Met him at the NHL exhibition game; great guy. Everyone complains about Winnipeg but very few take action... he's one of the few that DOES SOMETHING about it instead of merely whining. |
