If you or your group do anything arts or cultural during Manitoba Arts and Culture Week March 8 - 15th - the events calendar is free to post your event.

Manitoba Arts and Culture week will be from March 8th to 15th, 2008. The week of organized activity and promotion of the arts and culture in Manitoba is lead by a steering committee of the Arts Manitoba Arts Network representing a host of other arts and culture organizations from all over the province. The theme of this year’s week is “Got Art?”

“Manitoba Arts and Culture Week is celebrating the important role that the arts and culture occupies in our communities. There will be a lot of activities, presentations, and opportunities to explore the arts and cultural life happening all over the province. We want to encourage people to celebrate and participate in their own way and in their own communities.” said Lydia Giles, Executive Director of the Manitoba Arts Network. “We want folks to take a second look at art and culture and how those things make our lives richer by asking – Got Art?”

Activities are planned for the entire week with a gala kick-off at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on March 8th at 12 Noon, with dignitaries, performers and a few surprises. Throughout the week many communities in Manitoba plan on having events in celebration as well.

The organizers invite Manitoba’s arts and culture organizations to take part by inserting the logo of Manitoba Arts and Culture week inside their promotional material, and utilizing special promotional handbills and posters for the cultural events which they are organizing between the 8th and 15th of March, 2008. These items are available on the Web site www.mbartsculture.ca for download and customization.

Arts and Culture organizations are also encouraged to organize a special event within the framework of Manitoba Arts and Culture week. In order to further promote their activities during the week, organizations can fill-in the online form on the website and details will be posted on the www.mbartsculture.ca site’s events calendar.

Arts and cultural organizations participation will contribute to reinforce and widen their Community networks while encouraging diversity, creativity, attendance and participation in the field of arts and the culture.

Together, let us celebrate our passion for the arts and culture by participating in Manitoba Arts and Culture week!
