Fraud Camera. Beware.

A rant by: BigB

Location: Lagimodier Blvd (#59 North)
South bound lane.

For those of you in the area, Us Kildonaners are being attacked again. I was ok with them setting up these stupid things when they were in Charleswood, St. James, etc. But now this is personal. First off, Lagimodier is a highway. Posted 80 on that stretch which means 110. I've been pulled over at 100 once, but the cop just wanted to get a better look at my killer ride (featured on xzibit pimp my ride, moms dodge shadow where they installed 2 15" subs, put some 'no fear' and 'taz' decals on it and a grounding strip with aftermarket exhaust tip from CT). The important part is we have a right to speed in areas such as these. Where there is a bullavard in the middle, large moderately shallow ditches and minimal turn offs. It should really be the autobaun of Winnipeg. But that's not my arguement today.

What frustrates me is that there is a Robin's Doughnuts at that same corner. Which means that any given time there is a minimum of 2 cruisers in the parking lot. So now logic would state that putting up lights at such a intersection would be idiotic. But they like to use the element of suprise. This is why they hide out in bushes and ambush you when your rushing out to the lake. Now where was i, oh yes...the camera has been set up there for over a month and i have never seen it go off. So i figured i should run a trial on it. With the liquid courage in my belly i blew right through the red light and didnt see a flash. So i went back again and held my beer out to the camera as i went through it a second time, still no flash. So we are either paying to have these things put up and not used, or they set them up and then wait to actually plug them in. Either way money is being wasted here. So if FreedomFries wants to join forces maybe we can drag those curbs and barracades off Boner and Mc Leod and then on the way back barracade off the Robin's parking lot and pull down the camera's all at once. I know the bucking ford bronco is up for the challenge. I'll put a 6er of standard on ice and we can do it tonight.

the law has spoken.

Everything he writes is pure genious. Keep posting BigB. I want to keep reading what you have to say.

I heard somewhere that the City couldn't afford to put camera's in all of the Photo Radar locations. Their plan is to rotate the actuall camera from location to location, with this being the case you never really know if it's gonna take your picture or not. You may not want to fly through there with your lucky lager in hand for too long, there's a chance the camera might be installed. But if your a gambling man go for the glory. At least if your unlucky and it works you'll have a nice picture of your vehicle to hang on the wall.

At least we will know when they have installed the camera at Lagimodier and Grassie. They will put up a warning sign 1/2 mi before hand so u have time to hit the breaks. This principal should be used in all speed traps and check stops. My next question is, why do we have to spend money on installing these silent sams when we don't have the resources (apparently) to put an actual camera in it? I've heard of wasting money before. But this is bizarre!
BigB says: 2005-09-25 14:52:50
I saw the flash go off last night. They have a camera in there last night. And they don't have the warning sign up.

People just slow down then hit the gas afterward isn't stopping anyone from speeding
BigB says: 2005-10-04 01:08:11
well technically your wrong. if they slow down for a short period they are stopping speeding for a bit. If it's a intersection with high rate of fatalities then by slowing down the drivers and making them more alert at that intersection is a good thing regardless of their normal driving habits.

No one has "the right" to speed. You have the right to obey the law, and to pay the consequences if you break the law. PERIOD.

I bet that last anonymous poster was a woman! Seriously, live a little. Everyone speeds, and everyone should be allowed to speed if the conditions are right.
Anonymous says: 2005-11-11 18:33:33
I'll bet that last anonymous poster was an 18-24 year old male who has a 19?? Honda/Toyota/Whatever with a super cool cherry bomb attachment on the exhaust pipe that makes it sound like a painful "ripper fart" and probably some flames or decals on the side, and a huge spoiler on the back that must make the car go faster, because otherwise why would it be there? You can live a little somewhere else and spare me your poser pimped out ride.

the speed limits are posted for a reason. Just quit speeding and you won't get tickets. Leave for work on time! If you feel the need to speed go to the racetrack. There really is no reason or excuse to drive over 60 km in the city is there? yes I am a woman, so the F... what?
Judgement says: 2005-11-21 11:47:10
Haven't you said in past articles that you are a welfare mom that takes the bus? Does you opinion really count when it comes to driving?
Anonymous says: 2006-02-09 00:05:20
winnipeg speed limits are a joke - people speed because the limits are unreasonably low. ALthough so is the standard that drivers are educated too. Pluck a Winnipeg drive off the streets and put them on a British highway and they'd be toast in a few minutes. I guess the point is - some people have the ability to drive in a straight line on a flat empty dry road at more than 50mph. Go on - try it. If your careful and can see further than the car in front of you its really not that scarey.

um im sure you know this... but the spoiler is there to force the car down and give you more traction... more traction= more controll at high seepds

Yes speed limits in Winnipeg are low, but they are winter limits; do you really think that they would change them for summer?
Anonymous says: 2006-02-21 14:11:13
no i do not think they would change them , for the whole time ei lived here they were the same duringg winter and summer, and every one was getting ticketed for going over them.

What I disagree with is not the red light cameras- running red lights is truly a dumb-ass dangerous thing to do. No question there, hell, put up red light cameras at every intersection! But to try and enforce speeding is ineffective and impractical. Driving down St.Mary's at 75km/h is just keeping up with traffic! 30something- hope you make the best of your senior's discount! You seemed pretty cool in most of your other posts, but jeez! Are YOU that f***up doing 60km/h on Lagimodiere Blvd or the perimeter?
Scamera says: 2007-02-14 20:49:17
Red light cameras seem like a good idea but there are many issues with them, even more with speed enforcement... like is it fair to ticket the general public just because the city is to lazy to post the proper speed limit? Yellow light adjustments work just as well or better then red light cameras. I have just put up a sight about photo enforcement for Winnipeg and I invite you to have a look and get a different view of photo enforcement www.scamera.org Erik

Red Light Cameras & Photo Radar Vehicles suck! Here is the answer to this pesky problem -> http://www.PreventTicket.com/ People would like you to believe that it doesn't work but I have been using it successfully for over a month & not 1 single ticket! :) Also see the video from fox news which shows what it looks like when you get flashed! http://www.preventticket.com/flash/Fox31.wmv Enjoy :)

Yeah I drove through a red light before the disraeli freeway and the camera didn\'t go off. Useless pieces of sh*t.

To learn the truth about photo enforcement and how it penalizes good drivers and allows bad drivers to remain un-punished, come to my web site www.trafficticketguru.com As a former traffic officer in Winnipeg let me open your eyes to the truth and how you can successfully fight these tickets.

After reading the rant of 'BigB' and the comments that followed, it just proves what I have been saying for a long time..'There is not much intelligent life in this city'
