Private MRI ![]() A rant by: Anonymous I say let the ones that can pay have their MRI done right away and let the ones who can't pay wait in line until they get their appointment. Another example of the ant and the grasshopper story... << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) BalthazaarRamrod says: 2005-12-16 13:10:11 All While creating 2 teirs of health care... s***ty care for poor people and good care for those that can afford it? I don't think so. Anonymous says: 2005-12-16 13:17:05 ^^Exactly, we should have s***ty care for all! BalthazaarRamrod says: 2005-12-16 13:29:56 The care isn't bad at all. If you think it is, break your arm and then fly to South America. That said, I understand your point of view and I'm all for it...Provided we do some things first. 1) Make sure all people have equal opprtunities 2) Make sure dignity of work is restored. Then you can start shuting down social programs. 30something says: 2005-12-16 17:19:14 I agree. In fact this topic makes me SICK. I HATE the NDP now! What a ridiculous example of political correctness which doesn't care about people but only cares about what people THINK. JT says: 2005-12-17 10:11:38 If you want to compare the quality of our health care to South American countries then you should also look at the other countries that have long surpassed Canada's health care system. What Canada has is equal health care for all, but at a price. Limited resources, outdated technology. A GP has the potential to make 5 times more in the US because health care is run like a business. Administartors are held accountable by the bottom line. People also need to realize that the american health care resources are far superior to Canada's. It's true that they have some deficiencies when it comes to low income people, but when it comes to middle class families they pay less for haelth insurance (for superior care) than we pay for health care through our income tax. Look at the facts, we pay more than double in income and sales taxes as most Americans making the same amount of money. Privatizing health care does in fact create an element of a two tier system. Why is this so bad? It's just another incentive for people to get off their ass and do something with their lives. Keep in mind that public health care facilities will not only see waiting lists drop, they will also have more resources to improve ther system. I was never given anything. I went to school, got a good job, and am still paying off debt from my school tuition and living expenses. In a few years when I'm in a situation to do so why would the government tell me that I am not allowed to get the best treatment available. I'm allowed to drive a nicer car, live in a nicer neighborhood, pay higher taxes, but I can\'t decide where/how I'm treated...ridiculous. Anonymous says: 2005-12-20 21:52:14 If you think that American Health care is better and cheaper on average than Canadian health care you're on drugs. Give me some. JT says: 2005-12-21 16:08:40 Well it is true that Canadian health care is a lot cheaper for those of you that have no ambition to get past the 2nd tax bracket. Anonymous says: 2005-12-24 23:19:45 You talk like you know me. You shouldn't. You're also very ignorant. Even people that do make a lot of money in the states pay more for health care than we do. BigB says: 2005-12-26 04:36:33 Are you speaking with any factual info? Sounds like you know nothing on the topic and just want to be heard. People that have jobs have health packages sim. to the canadian employers. So like JTizel said, people like you that have no drive in life are the only people that don't benifit. And for that reason I am all for it. Robinhood is dead *sniffle*sob*sniffle*, start doing something for yourself! ToliveandworkinthePeg says: 2006-02-21 17:15:47 The whole issue with the private mri was about the government telling them who the boss is; instead of jumping on board and say:this is what we pay for it, if you want to charge more you charge the patient. What would happen if I showed up one morning at a doctors office and DID NOT produce my health card? I would be seen very quickly and pay the visit. AnolaBoy says: 2008-10-27 17:22:46 I'm only gonna say this once, I am an Magnetic Radiological Technician. Plain an simple, we have the BEST medical services in the world. WE have the latest technology in every field. So i don't understand why you people say with privatized services we would get so called better doctors and better ways to treat illness? Nothin would change when it comes to treatments, technology, and doctors knowledge. The only thing that would change is yes shorter lines cause MAYBE 20% of canadians would beable to afford the health care. Fact, 40% of americans are insured...30% of those insured will still have to sell their house to beable to afford oh say radiation therapy for themselves or a family member if they got cancer. |

If the wealthy want to pay for private medical coverage in this country, I say let them. Not only would it reduce waiting lists, but it would also spare the government from having to pay the medical fees of those who can easily pay for it themselves.
