Lives taken too lightly

A rant by: wrath

On Monday, the CIBC in cityplace was robbed. The robber left a package in the bank and told them it was a bomb. The police came and blocked of the front entrance to the mall, Graham Ave in front of the mall, and Hargrave from St. Mary to Graham. The many occupants, tenants and employees at the mall didn't know what was going on, but they knew it was something. Later that night, the multiply local news stations reported the robbery and the bomb threat.

I'm a employee who works in the towers above Cityplace. Our offices directly above the CIBC bank (not on the 2nd floor, but if you were to drill through the floor, you would end up at CIBC).

The police did not evacuate the mall or the offices.

This pissed me off to no end. Yes, everything ended well, but what if it didn't? How dare they decided that our lives are so inconsquential that we not be told what's going. Their job is to protect and serve, and I do not feel protected to served by these police officers.

Knowing that my life was in danger ia not only making me mad, but it has made me scared for my own safety. What is this was to happen again, and things to do not end so happy? There shouldn't be a choice in evacuation in the case of bomb threats. On June 19th, there was a bomb threat at Shaw and they were all evacuated. What is it about Shaw that makes their lives more important then ours?

There is something very wrong with the justice system in this city.

I have a friend that works in that building as well. She was giving me the same story. "so unfair". What grounds did they have to believe the bomb was real? Did the person making the call state, "if you evacuate the building i will detonate"? Let the bomb squad deal with the bombs, you deal with the pencil sharpening and transfering calls to important people. And yes, if you feel the need come onto this site and share a great potato salad reciept....

I'm a police officer, and i was one of the officers involved in this particular robbery. We all decided that since you all work in the crappy city place mall, you weren't that important anyways. But good luck with your job at orange julius.

If you were a cop involved in that robbery, you;re even more ignorant that I imagined. There isn't any orange julius in this mall, buddy. You're thinking of the bomb scare at Polo.

Sorry that i don't know where all the orange julius' are located in this city. I just assume and KNOW that you would love to work at one. Sorry that even the police don't care about that pathetic mall. It's just the way it is little girl.

If the guy claiming to be a cop is realllly a cop, then he would know where the closest donut shop is in the area? Well, do ya? Betcha if someone left a package there...the boys in blue would have cleared a 20 block radius, eaten all the donuts just to be safe and their PR people would have gone national, saying they uncovered a terrorist plot! And if this pisses him off and he/she is a cop, they can trace my IP, come to my home and THEN, I will be impressed. Oh yeah, this cop person is right...that mall sucks!!!
