City Workers

A rant by: Anonymous

Does anyone ever notice how many city workers frequently sit around in coffee shops and restraunts all moring and most of the afternoon no wonder our road ways are poor and filthy!

How many of you get restraunt and coffee shop breaks 2-3 times a day ?

Two fifteen mintue breaks - one morning one for a coffee fix, one in the afternoon for a soda or water. And one half hour lunch break. That's pretty standard for any legal business where you're working for 8+hours.

I work for the city. We are union. So we get lots of breaks. THat doesnt mean that we dont work. We just dont work hard. BUt we are saving the tax payrs money by not working hard. because when you work hard you get hurt and then you have to go on disability and that costs money and then you end up costing more then not working hard does. See, if you think about us in that way you can appreciate that fact that we take breaks and dont rush our work.

This guy is a moron. I'd pay an extra 10% of my income to taxes if i could have freedom to beat the ignorance out of him and all his co-working fools. It's a known fact that people that put an effort and work diligently have a lower chance of injury in the work place. Put when people are working with a lazy carefree attitude is when they get injured. So in face, you are costing us more (as a whole) by being less productive and getting more loss of use time.

i agree. i worked at tim hortons for about two years... and holy s*** you workers need a kick in the ass. don't you realize that when you're sittin there eatin a honey dip donut, that the tax money you have to pay is being wasted on idiots just like you? lol, i actually found it amusing how lazy a group of people can actually be.

Hey,this city has a bunch lazy asses who get payed too much to do so little.Example; On May6th or so i was walking with my 2 little ones near Omand's Creek @ Raglan Rd.Just at that moment a city truck pulls up to the corner where a single garbage pail resides.I see that there are three big guys inside and i think to myself,'it takes 3 guys to empty one pail',that's when one came out followed by the other two.All three were actually touching the can in someway as if it were this huge object.I said to the oldest and 1st guy,'wow,it takes three of you to empty one can?'His response was,Yeah and next week there will be 5 of us' the sadder part of this is that he was telling the truth. How disturbing, the way we as tax payers are insulted by City hall on an every day basis.Sam and his business dealings...what a joke.

No worries, Sucraman. It won't be long before most outdoor work is privatized, which will almost certainly get rid of the inefficient union workers. Say what you want, but when the city is the employer, it has only so much it can do to motivate workers, and only so much incentive to get the workers to produce more. It's not like you can fire a city worker, right? But when a company is privately owned, particularly if it has investors to answer to, then suddenly how fast and how well you can do your job becomes critical. Do a slow, lousy job and guess what? No more contract with the city, because there are other companies out there who will do a better job for a bit less money. When the city is the employer, there are no shareholders to answer to. Just taxpayers, and you know how easy it is to keep THEM happy! Just ignore them and they'll go away!

OK Jealousy will not get you anywhere. I work private, and have friends that work Prov and City. Its the same anywhere. There are always hard workers and lazy. My friends work overtime without submitting time, take work home, etc. to get the job done during certain times of the year. Before making foolish jealous comments, maybe you should consider the whole picture, and get more information of what your talking about.

First of all, learn to spell. Jealous much, do you REALLY know how many breaks city workers get? I'll tell you, 15 minutes, twice a day. Don't blame city workers because you are ignorant.

What's sick and pathetic is that smug, lazy, stupid uneducated bums like Art make all hard-working, decent, intelligent city workers look bad. And he probably makes more than they do, because the City caters to these lazy asses.

Winnipeggers don't go away, honey, they just whine louder and louder. Oh, and they think they should get breaks from the City for being careless about their property and responsibilities, breaks they think their neighbours don't deserve. LOL Ha ha........

Banshee, whoever taught you how to type should have first taught you how to think. Nothing you wrote made any sense, let alone offered any sense of a real argument. Name calling and insults do nothing other than make you appear as a small-minded person.
