Look at my hat! Now put money in it!  A rant by: jack49 Is it me or are more and more people trying to show off their hats in this city??? I was walking down portage yesterday and every 5 feet theres someone standing there holding out their hat! I mean sure, some of the hats were nice, but yeesh! some werent at all worth showing off. Of course I'm a nice person, so i smile and say nice hat to them, but even with a complement they get pissed off???? I don't get it, it's like it's a competition, and they are only happy when you put money in the hat. I guess thats to signify that they won the hat competition. Well that's fine once in a while, but this hat competition has to stop, i cant afford to award every second person on the street showing off their hat. Winnipeg has a hat competition every 5 ft like i said before, I think it's time the police do something about this. Nothing like tourists coming to our city and being intimidated by a hat competition. It will deter them if they NEVER get money, but there are too many do-gooders out there who give money to them. Why not give money to a charity for the homeless or a soup kitchen. I personally dont care as long as they don't get in my road and don't talk to me. But i have had the knock around some of them that are drunk or high. I don't like them touching me or getting into my space. But there is no reason for someone that is giving generously from their own pocket a fine for having compassion. Hence we are willing to look always at the result of our actions instead of the cause. There is a reason these people are out there begging, A)because we let them. B) somehow society did not serve thier needs. C)society is becomming ever the more de humanized. People don't care or feel enough for their fellow man. Soon you probably will have drive through church where you swipe your credit card through a slot, get a cd sermon and 7 more hell free days. It is all about money. I am sure that the city could find jobs for every single person that wants one but won't due to unions won't allow them to work for less, and with what city guys get paid it is just easier and cheaper to give them welfare or for the ones to crazy to get welfare, it is just easier to arrest them every so often. No one really wants to fix these problems or it would be done already |
