High Gas Price means $$$ for you and me!  A rant by: Jman Everywhere I go I hear my fellow Winnipeggers complaining that the price of gas is too high and they complain that they have less money to spend because of it. What you never hear people say is that while it is expensive, we as Canadians are becoming richer from it! As a resource rich nation we are better off when the price of Oil is high. Canadians that own Canadian mutual funds or RRSPs will be doing very well right now all because the price of Oil is at record highs. Even if you don't have any personal investments, the CPP (Canada Pension Plan) is heavily invested in several major Canadian Oil companies. On top of all this, the Government of Canada is expected to release a near record surplus of 9.2 billion due to the wonderful taxes we pay on gasoline. So as Canadians we are becoming increasingly wealthy. 9.2 Billion dollars? I wish I was a close friend of Paul Martin, because that money is probably going into the pockets of all of his best friends. Why do we keep voting in the Liberals???
