Wait for the Encore!!!  A rant by: jammin On Friday night I was blessed enough to attend the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young concert at the MTS Center. Now I have nothing to rant about concerning the show itself.... it was quite incredible. However, at the very end after the first encore song, people started streaming out of the arena. At this point the house lights were not on, and the crowd was still ferverently cheering for more. After about 3 minutes, the band returned for one more song. Now, I could posssibly understand leaving a show early in the old barn, as getting free from your parking spot was always a nightmare, but this isn't the case anymore. So.... I must conclude that many people just don't understand that the show isn't over until the house lights come on. Why am I ranting about this? After all, I did get my encore song, and I was well satisfied. The reason is that first of all it is a distraction to those of us trying to stay 'till the very end, and secondly, I'm sure depending on the band that it can affect how many encore performances are done. << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) Anonymous says: 2006-07-17 02:34:52 When the Bombers are getting their asses whupped (i.e. by a team like Montreal), how does one "get their money's worth"? Lack of commitment. Perhaps the reason we lost the Jets. Some of us were wearing our white and cheering until we were hoarse. The others were staying home and complaining about the price of tickets. Go to any Goldeye or Bomber game or any other sporting event in Wpg and you'll see the same thing. Some people would rather "beat the traffic" than get their money's worth. Stupid, yes- but hey, this is Winnipeg.
