Outdoor Fringe Stage

I know part of fringing is seeing a few crappy shows, but WHY do they have the same shitty people back every year for the outdoor stage. During the day it is particularly bad. Especially the kids who can't sing but their mothers send them up there anyway. ouch! and how many goddamned jugglers do you really need to see in a week?

My daughter was singing on that stage in french. I thought she was great! En sans. Les chiens dans la place. It was wonderful!

The Fringe Festival here and wherever else I've seen them are all cut from the same cloth: the odds of seeing something half-decent are about 3-1 against. In fact, a high percentage of the plays look like something produced by a high school drama group. It's like the New music Festival where the stuff is rarely heard again and even more rarely available on CD even if you did wanted to hear it. Both are like crap shoots with the odds stacked in favor of the house. But for those who like to take risks and aren't particularly discriminating, they'll have to live with the fact.

I'll admit I've never attended a Fringe event, but from the advertising and the name alone ("Fringe"), I've always assumed this was an event with shows of dubious quality and interest. If it was something that was more "legitimate" (for lack of a better word) it would be marketed more "uptown". As it is it reminds me of a sort of performing circus, and I don't expect much out of said performances.

Can you do any better? It's always SO easy to criticize.....don't go if you don't like it, Fringe doesn't need boring, self-important whiners.
