Bringing your groceries to a restaurant ![]() A rant by: merlot So...when I,or anyone I know go out to a nice restaurant for dinner, we understand that we are going somewhere that is going to cook us some food. All we are expected to bring is money to pay for it. This is a mutual understanding between MOST guests and the restaurant. So why is it that some people feel it acceptable to bring their own DESSERT!!?? I work in one of the finer dining establishments in winnipeg as a server. The other night these 3 women show up for dinner....and brought their own cake!! "Here you go, if you could put some pretty candles on there and keep it in your fridge that will be fine." F*** you you cheap hags! Do you bring your own beer? NO! Your own steak? NO. Coffee? NO. So for future reference to all the cheap coupon clippers of winnipeg....leave your groceries at home when you go to a restaurant ok? We HAVE desserts there that are much better than your Safeway icing cake. And if you're too cheap to buy one of our desserts...i'm sure you all know what's coming next....STAY HOME!! Oh and one last rant....don't bitch that you got charged .50 cents each as a forkage charge for me to cut up and serve your Safeway cake! Restaurants are a business....not a park bench! << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) NM says: 2006-03-24 11:04:45 Ok, so apparently JT has some anger management issues.....do you have an "eductaion"? Yikes. Before you criticize other people, take a look at yourself! I too work in the service industry AND I have a University degree as well as a post-degree diploma. Don't assume that people in the service industry are dumb - I have to work a second job in the service industry AS WELL as my job in the medical field because of how little the medical profession means to this province. I work in the service industry to support myself. Anyhoo, I agree with this rant! People here are TOO cheap! To bring your own food to a restaurant is just plain tacky. If you can't afford to buy what the restaurant offers, then go somewhere else, or go home for your dessert. BalthazaarRamrod says: 2006-03-24 11:51:24 I worked as a waiter when I was in school. I'm far from uneducated and to be honest I did have to take a lot of s*** from ignorant bastards. I made good money when I was in school and I was too busy to do anything else. Anonymous says: 2006-03-25 22:13:57 I really don't find it appropriate to bring in your own food to a restaurant unless the restaurant allows it. If the customer prearranges bringing in a cake for someone's birthday then it is fine. But other than a birthday cake they should eat what the restaurant provides. |

Why do servers have to complain about everything? Probably because they hate their jobs and their lives. So what if some people want to bring their own cake to celebrate an occasion? If the maangement is ok with it then your job is to shut your mouth, do your job and hope your tables dont see through your fake smile and tip you. Servers do take a lot of s*** from customers but then again so do McDonalds employees and they don't get any tips. That's all a server is, a glorified fast food employee. I don't care which "upscale" restaurant you're from, you're still driving your civic/sunfire/cavalier to your crappy ass apartment after work. If you hate your life then get an eductaion, or kill yourself...just please stop bitching about everyone
