I HATE WINNIPEG ![]() A rant by: Anonymous I was forced to shake my head when I discovered someone logged onto a "rant" site to post how great Winnipeg is. It's only natural for a detestable person like myself to have to apose a boring ode to the peg. 1. If your not into bowling or walking around the forks (which is flooded 8mths of the year) there is nothing to do. 2. Transcona (you may include St Norbert to this point) 3. Bishop Grandin. Either under construction or in winter 26 cars in the ditch slowing down traffic. 5. "Peg city" (an urban-hiphop style) rap song that is played in every single bar in the city 14 times a night. 6. Mommys old minivan or dodge shadow with a 16yr old homo behind the wheel and more stereo equipment in the backseat then the value of the vehicle. 7.forcing kids to learn french although it will never benifit them in life. 8. Accessive potholes. 9. Having a "buddy" show up at your house with lucky/minhas creek beer and expecting you to still be friends with him/her. 10. Pimply nosed kids and low-lifes get paid $7.00/hr to take your order at mcdinks (should be $4.00 max). 11. Ignorant ppl that can't take a joke. sry, have to get back to work. i'll bash your precious city later << Back Add a Comment Comments ( Add a Comment ) Anonymous says: 2005-11-21 22:47:30 I agree with 2., 6., 7., and 8. ... but as far as there being "nothing to do" in Winnipeg I ask you, what would you do differently if you were in Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, or Toronto that you wouldn't do here? People who say "there's nothing to do in Winnipeg" are people who PREFER to be bored. Anonymous says: 2005-11-21 22:48:51 wpg has it's bad side to be sure, but compared to other cities, i'm still happier to be here. OP have you lived elsewhere? were you just having a bad day or do you really want to move somewhere else? What I like about winnipeg is that it's easier to buy a house here and save money for travelling. It depends on your priorities. Anonymous says: 2005-11-21 22:49:51 ...and Myst, I absolutely hate Winnipeg (most people who live here do), but my family, friends, job, home, and everything I own is here. I can't just pick up and leave. Anonymous says: 2005-11-22 08:48:59 Nothing to do in Winnipeg? Pffft. Just because you have no friends (scared them all away with your elite beer drinking) and no life (what bar do YOU hang out in that plays that song at ALL?) doesn't mean there isn't tons of stuff to experience in this city. Sure, the weather blows from time to time. But take advantage of what we have here, and you'll see Winnipeg is a decent place to live. jammin says: 2005-11-22 08:58:05 I am tired of blanket statements like "most people who live here hate Winnipeg." If you're going to make a statement on this board, say something that you can back up. Secondly, get a login name already. The only people who seem to make these same statements over and over again are the ones who don't want to be entries matched up with other entries on the board. Anonymous says: 2005-11-22 14:49:41 8. Accessive potholes. Looks like someone should be \'forced\' to learn english. nekochan says: 2005-11-22 16:15:57 Do you know how many people have just packed up and left? Lots! There are plenty of companies that will rent you a moving vehicle. And as for family, there's email, IM programs and there are three major modes of transportation that will allow you to easily move within the country. So go off to some "bigger, better, brighter" city, and then tell us how much Winnipeg sucks. Also, minimum wage across the country does vary quite a bit, but we're not the highest. So, people in BC, and I think NS or one of those island provinces get paid a lot more to serve you food at McDic's, so that point is so not valid at all. Myst says: 2005-11-22 17:05:12 "Anonymous says: 2005-11-21 22:49:51...and Myst, I absolutely hate Winnipeg (most people who live here do), but my family, friends, job, home, and everything I own is here. I can't just pick up and leave." You really shouldn't speak for 'most' people. Lots of people LOVE Winnipeg, myself included. Why do I love Winnipeg? I was born and raised here. My family & friends are here, and because of those reasons, and many others, I'm proud to be a Winnipeger!! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there are pros and cons to EVERY city. So what if your family, friends, job, home, and everything you own is here. Many people "pick up and leave" if they don't like where they are living. I'm sure you didn't just wake up one morning and think to yourself, "Man, I really hate this city. What the hell am I doing here anyways?" I left Winnipeg for 5 yrs. My family, friends, job and everything I own is was here. ( The only thing I didn't have was my own place, which made the move a bit easier. ) Sure I missed my family & friends. Last time I checked, I was human! ;) If you hate Winnipeg so much, maybe you should have thought twice before having a family, friends, job, home, and everything you own, here in Winnipeg! ;) roscoe says: 2005-11-22 21:49:08 I'm with the coward that won't get a user name, that being that winnipeg sux, big time. Some peeps would say having family here makes it great, heck, if you were born in a landfill, you would still have family. Hey, wait a minute, winnipeg is basically some houses around a landfill site, so in fact it is garbage. Just because you keep saying how great something is doesn't make it true. It's the same for going on about how great Canada is and how it is respected around the world, if the federalies say it enough times peeps believe it because it's way to much trouble to have an original thought. Wake up zombies! Over & out Myst says: 2005-11-22 22:42:40 So because some of us like Winnipeg, we don't have original thoughts? Come on now. If people don't like Winnipeg, so be it. It's there prerogative. Having said that, there are indeed some Winnipegers out there who ENJOY living in Winnipeg. Again.... for those of you who don't like being in Winnipeg, no one's keeping you here. You know the way out! But just in case... Number one East, or #1 West... both will lead ya right outta the city! Good luck! BigB says: 2005-11-28 15:49:02 Sorry. It posted as anon bcs i forgot to submit it b4 i was logged out. Big suprise; I wrote that rant... nekochan says: 2005-11-28 17:31:56 I'm kinda surprised that you wrote the rant because you wrote this one already. Don't you have anything less or do or write about? BigB says: 2005-11-29 11:39:03 Actually Neo Citron, A simpleton like myself I have very little to talk about. Just NASCAR, rodeos and monster trucks. But no one seems to want to talk about that. Anonymous says: 2005-12-23 11:54:32 I agree with you Myst!! forcing kids to learn french although it will never benifit them in life." I mean , anything but french. Why don't they just move the hell to quebec. I speak 3 Languages, french is not one of em. Why should I be forced to read french road signs. To hire someone less qualified just because they speak french. God , what a screwed up place. The bandit has spoken. withoutprejudice says: 2006-01-03 10:00:25 I've lived in about 10 great cities including: St John's, Montreal, the Caribean, Banff, Hamilton (ON), and I always wanted to be back in Winnipeg. Here lies the nicest people, slowest pace(besides The Caribean and St John's) Easy, cheaper living and pleanty of employment to mention a few. Most of us don't care about what you disgruntled people think about this place, just as long as you contribute to our economy (pay taxes and work here), we don't really care. We Like it here. Thanks for you business though. Have a Great New Year! tj says: 2006-01-16 13:53:48 Look, Winnipeg may not be the greatest city, but the things you listed are what makes the city what it is, if you don't like it get out. I laugh at how pathetic our city can be sometimes, but its a good thing, its what makes us different from all the rest. Anonymous says: 2006-01-19 18:35:19 u can just shut ur face ... cuz i like winnipeg! not only cuz i live in it but its easy to know and theres lots ok hot emo guys:) and by the way good f***ing luck trying to bash it.. an;t gunna happen! Anonymous says: 2006-01-19 18:37:42 o yah and by the way(forgot to put this in my last comment) YOUR FAT!!!! HA HA! GO f***ING WINNIPEG!!! YAY! jack49 says: 2006-01-19 19:02:31 ^^Is there anyway that this site can have a disclaimer not letting 13 yr olds post? It's really getting annoying. big0joe says: 2006-01-19 22:40:51 why is it taht some many ppl post as anon? like as iff the screen name wasent enough cover! like how much more protection do you need... personlay i like winnpeg... everyone has their own oppinion. i agree that kids sholdnt be forced to learn french because really the only purpouse it would serve is being one of them tellomarketers or sumthing long those lines... BalthazaarRamrod says: 2006-01-20 09:30:04 Big0joe, you should learn english before you learn french. big0joe says: 2006-01-20 15:47:10 ok yes i admit some of my coments werent the easiest to understand... butr i read over that last one and there was nothing wrong other then i missed the word a near the end... and maby a few spelling errors... but it was good enough to understand.. unless you cant read it... and if so thats your own problem! BalthazaarRamrod says: 2006-01-20 18:06:54 I am able to read and even understand you if I spend some time trying to fugure out what you said. The fact that you're making a comment about the government teaching children French makes me laugh when your mastery of the English language is challenged at best. Maybe they should have taught you English? Anonymous says: 2006-01-21 22:01:33 If you're going to bash our city, at least get your spelling right. Accessive potholes? How can you access a pothole? Anyway, what city are you from? Rant about that instead of ours, and stop trying to prove that you know more about Winnipeg than we true Winnipeggers do... I'm confused! Koopinator says: 2006-01-23 17:03:28 Ok i dont know about you guys/girls. But winnipeg ROCKS. Sure it has tons of hobo's and a really high minimum wage (which is GOOD!) and lots of Aboriginal people who keep taking and taking like a little child who wants more even if you give them something. But WHERE ELSE IN CANADA can you start up a buisness and have the most sucess? Only in winnipeg! BigB says: 2006-01-24 10:31:22 Koop you need to get your facts right before you start blubbering on this site. Minimum wages in Canada are lower than they were 25 years ago, lower than in most industrialized countries and lower in most cases than in the United States. Minimum wages have fallen so low in Canada that, even when combined with government tax credits for the poor, they fall far below Statistics Canada's low-income cut-offs, which are generally considered the poverty line. What are the schoolâs teaching you and Joey? $7.00/hr may be good money to pay for McDonaldâs and gas for you â84 4 Cyl Rustang while living with your mommy. But you wonât last long in the âreal worldâ at $14,000/yr (according to you âa REALLY HIGH WAGEâ. As for the uneducated comment on having the most success in starting a business in Winnipeg, I hope that was sarcasm. Winnipeg is a trial location for marketers. We are known as the toughest market to break into. If a business concept makes it in Winnipeg there are 7.4 other businesses that didnât make it. But that one idea will most likely prosper all across Canada. The law has spoken. Koopinator says: 2006-01-24 17:05:11 Then maybe don't work a minimum wage job when you move out genius. Go to college or university and get a real job. I'd say that 7 dollars is better than what is was 2 years ago. Do you have nothing better to do but go on to this site and make fun of teenagers? big0joe says: 2006-01-24 21:54:58 KOOP your giving us a bad name! your getting to mad to fast... you gotta keep your cool around here! but tehn again im sure i aint helping much either=p and im sure hes got more of a life then you koop... cuase im sure he still aint in grade 10... and well $7 and hour is good enough for me right now.. but i wont be sticking with a job like that long... BalthazaarRamrod says: 2006-01-24 22:18:31 Koop, $7 is exactly what it was 2 years ago. In fact, I think it might have been 7.25.... Anonymous says: 2006-01-31 13:38:13 WTF does "The Law Has Spoken" mean? It's kind of senseless unless you are a Senator, Lawyer or a Judge... My 2 cents. BigB says: 2006-01-31 14:38:01 What does "anonymous" mean anyways?!?! I am not going to say i am an omnipotent ruler, My actions speak those words for me. If you would read my past statements I have an ability to state things like they are. Some attempt with "thetruth", but the fact is what i say is all factual information. Reading my writings is like reading from a history book of reference. You should take this opportunity to be around someone of such greatness as a privillage. Anonymous says: 2006-01-31 18:05:24 BigB: you shine from your Humility and Wisdom, please take me in your priviledged group. Anonymous says: 2006-02-02 08:35:48 Dear I HATE WINNIPEG ************************************************* PLEASE PACK YOUR BAGS AND MOVE TO THE STATES ************************************************* If Winnipeg is so bad, Then leave, get lost and stop complaining. You have obviously never been outside of Canada or Outside of Manitoba for that matter to realize its pretty good here. If you had then you wouldn't take so much for granted. By your statement you are probably about 19 years old, live at home, don't pay rent or taxes and never travelled to a 3rd world country to see that things here in Canada are pretty good. Like FREEDOM! If its so Bad here then do something about it. I think the worst part about winnipeg is the losers that complain about it and think it's everyone elses fault that it sucks but their own! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY THAT MAKES LIFE BETTER HERE! sucraman says: 2008-02-08 00:23:09 This is a 'I HATE WINNIPEG 'site so most comments are redundant.Go to the I love Wpg site. fucker says: 2008-02-13 18:30:53 OHHH YEAHHHHHH....bitches look out cause I got a BOATLOAD of reasons why this city licks bag.. 1)Anyone read that piece of s*** called ``The tab`` Well in it an article ran about the best thing to do in this cess pool after hours: The Laundry mat listed number one (in case you wanna have fun and do laundry). Then Johnny ``fat ass`` G`s was second....cause it`s open `till 2 and you can have a snack next to the drunk, pregnant crack whore fighting with her Retard boyfriend about the blazing party they;re going to (yes I actually sat through it) The Forks.....toursts f***ing hate this place. And if a tourist is smart enough to stay away, then I stay away. Buskers suck balls cause I can`t sing with them and yes it`s either flooded or too f***in cold to actually stand and stare at our Wintery desserted town. Metallica stopped making GOOD albums in 1990...MAYBE WE should stop playing it on the Radio EVER f***ING DAY!! (For those who do not know its called Manditory Metallica on 97.5 FM) I am SICK to death of LED ZEPPLIN...yeah there good no I dont want to hear them every 15 min on any radio station. I want to maime that snarky bitch on freq 107.5 FM It is either REALLY cold (-48 celcius today) or REALLY hot (40 celcius) so that leaves autmun and construction season...when traffic dont move We dont have hockey cause no one here like hockey enough to actually go watch a team of loosers The next GOOd concert worth the $100 ticket is in 6 months....actually I think its f***ing Metallica to tell you the truth!!!! Those of you who go to the West end Cultural Center....where do you get your music from. I have yet to even hear of these guys that show up there....until after the fact...in the tab when they tell us how good a show WAS and how we should have gone.....but no one new any better Indians.....f*** RIGHT OFF GET A f***ING JOB I DONt HAVE CHANGE AND I OWE YOU NADA GIVE ME YOUR f***ING BEER CAUSE YOU ACTUALLY HAVE MORE THAN I DO!! Eca94 says: 2009-05-07 17:12:12 wow. this is person is actually so ignorant it's funny. i've been to many bigger cities, and this one has the same cultural attractions without all the smog, pollution, and trash. if you're so lazy you can't even get out and see the city, except for the most obvious tourist attraction, please don't complain about it. taracam says: 2009-05-08 23:56:34 If a kid can handle the French classes, it can benefit them later on when they get into the job market and no telemarketing jobs aren't the only bilingual jobs out there...check out the Federal govt, MB govt, City of Wpg, Air Canada, ect. Having gone through French immersion, I was lucky enough to have several well paying jobs where bilingualism was required. Don't diss it. MB is also made up of several French towns and communities. Doomed says: 2010-01-26 15:06:08 Agree, this city has little to offer except cold, mosquitos and corrupt government officials. However, the one thing it does offer that keeps me here despite better judgement, is family and friends. Trust me, if I could move all of them with me, I would be gone. |

"7.forcing kids to learn french although it will never benifit them in life." First of all, being bilingual definately has it's advantages. There are some companies who will pay a higher wage, simply b/c they ARE bilingual. I myself am bilingual. Knowing how to read, write and speak both English and French has proved beneficial for me in many ways. Second of all, if you are living in Wpg, and hate it so much, no one's forcing you to stay. Don't like it? LEAVE! Seems pretty simple to me.
